Summary
A World War II check point in Avalanche Road, south of Grangecroft Quarries. It comprised a moveable barbed wire and timber trestle with a sentry box alongside and was constructed sometime between 1940-41. It was a check point where passes/identity cards had to be shown. The barrier had been removed before the end on the war. A field visit in 1997 recorded no traces of the structure.
