A group of rectilinear buildings and structures are visible at this location on aerial photographs of the middle section of Portlands's North-Eastern Breakwater. They are considered likely to be the remains of this Second World War coastal battery and its associated artillery searchlights.

Coastal battery with coast artillery searchlight. Coastal battery. CASLs. [information from 1963 aerial photographs]. North Eastern Breakwater (Middle Arm), near Distant Torpedo Range, Portland. <1-3>
Middle Arm coast artillery searchlight battery located at SY 700 768. <4-5>
A group of rectilinear buildings and structures are visible on aerial photographs of the middle section of Portlands's North-Eastern Breakwater <6-7>. They are considered likely to be the remains of the Second World War coastal battery and associated artillery searchlights described above. These features were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). They are still visible at this location on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.
