Monument record MWX1499 - The Grove: Slit Trench

Summary
A World War II slit trench, located at East Cliff, near 'Shepherd's Dinner', alongside footpath no.16, Portland. It had good coverage of the East Weares. The trench was constructed in 1940-41 and was probably used by the Home Guard Unit of HM Prison at The Grove. A field visit in 1997 located slight traces of the trench.
