Summary
The wreck of a Channel Island cargo vessel which was reported stranded at Portland Race on the 1st of December 1666, as a direct result of stormy weather conditions. Constructed of wood and registered in Guernsey, she was a sailing vessel.

Full Description
Stranded/Total Loss (2) `Dec.1, Weymouth: Several vessels have been wrecked on Portland beach...The storm began on Tuesday, wind SW, and was very violent; the persons drowned would have been saved had they kept to their vessels...a Guernsey vessels goods [belong] to merchants of Lyme; the goods are all saved... (3) Source (2) gives the place of loss as Portland Race, which, according to (3), was the place of loss of another vessel. Date of Loss Qualifier: R
The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
