`Wind about south-east, blowing strong; master and boy drowned, masters body only recovered. (2) `Portland, 7th Dec. The SOPHIE, from Havre for Dunkirk, is totally wrecked here - 2 of the crew saved. (3) Source (2) spells the name of the vessel as SOPHIA. Crew: 4 Crew Lost: 2 Date of Loss Qualifier: A Additional sources cited in United Kingdom Shipwreck Index: DCC 09 12 1830
