Full Description

`The ANN, Flummox, from Cardiff to London, foundered off Portland 19th instant. Crew saved.' (1) The DCF MAD records that the Ann foundered on Chesil Beach in 1838, but acknowledges that the record may not be accurate. (2) The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
