`Portsmouth 30th July: The BRITON, Richards, from Youghal to London, was sunk on Tuesday morning near Portland, in consequence of having her larboard bows stove by getting in contact with the NORTH ASH of Brixham. Crew saved. Master: Richards Date of Loss Qualifier: A (1) The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
