Full Description

`...from Falmouth to London, is wrecked near Weymouth; cargo partly saved and in hopes of saving the rest. (2) `Last Monday was driven on shore on Fleet Bank, about 5 miles from Weymouth, the BLANDFORD sloop, burthen about 50 tons...from Truro bound for London laden with copper and tin. The vessel is gone to pieces but part of the cargo will be saved. Master and one man saved. One man drowned. (4) Master: Benjamin Hillary Crew: 3 Crew Lost: 1. This vessel is only known from documentary evidence. The location given is only approximate. The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
