Full Description

`In a howling gale, this vessel was wrecked on Chesil Beach in West Bay. Joseph White and William Flan led a crew of five men (David King; John Flan; John White; George Stone and Henry Mitchell) who put out in their lerret to save the crew, earning two silver medals from the RNLI, and a certificate going to Jonathan Gibb. (1)(2) `Weymouth, 31st Dec: The NORVAL (schooner), Carder, wrecked in the West Bay today, was of and for Plymouth from Honfleur in ballast: she is being stripped and stores are being saved.
