Full Description

`We had on Sunday last one of the most violent gales witnessed for a long time, which blew a perfect hurricane. It is feared several vessels had suffered on the coast and West Bay. The schooner MARGARET AND ANN has gone to pieces and all lost. The beach west of Portland is strewed with wreck, articles of furniture, broken pieces, parcels of goods etc. Five bodies have been recovered on the north side, and doubtless more will wash in.
