Full Description

`A galliot about 100 tons, supposed a Dutch vessel, was lost on the 6th instant on Portland Beach, the crew drowned; some walnuts, almonds, wine and part of a box marked `Bilboa, have been thrown up, and a hat marked `Elii in it. The vessel was beat to atoms in a few minutes. (1) `Portsmouth 7th...yesterday during the gale...Wind SW. Crew Lost: All Date of Loss Qualifier: A (1) The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
