`Portsmouth, 24th May...The FRIENDS ADVENTURE, of and for Arundel, from Plymouth, was fallen in with de-masted, during a heavy gale at S by E on Saturday, about 3 leagues west of Portland, by the INTEGRITY, Hove, from Exeter to London, which took out the crew, and landed them at Eastbourne on Sunday. `Weymouth, 25th May. At daylight this morning, the bottom of a vessel was discovered on the beach in West Bay, and parts of the wreck seen floating about. The stern board has been picked up - it is marked FRIENDS ADVENTURE of Arundel. (1) Date of Loss Qualifier: A The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
