Full Description
A French vessel carrying wine from Bordeaux to Dunkirk with a crew of 7, lost in a storm near Lulworth Cove. Loss reported on 30 Nov 1838 (3).
'Late in 1838 and early 1839 there were two outstanding rescues by the St Albans Head Coastguards in which they used their boats, presumably launched from Chapmans Pool. On the earlier occasion they saved the crew of seven of this wreck. Lieut. W Parsons was awarded the Institutions silver medal and his seven boatmen rewarded.' (1)(3)
