[Airspeed Horsa Mk. I, standard heavy transport glider; 1 of a batch of 636 delivered between December 1942 and February 1944] Tow broke, ditched 2 miles off St Albans Head, Dorset, 25.3.1944. Builder: Harris Lebus Delivered: 1942-4 Unit: 1 Heavy Glider Servicing Unit Date of Loss Qualifier: A Daily Record 18/44 At 17.06 hours on 25-3-44 in the sea 16 miles off the Cobb Lyme Regis as a result of tow parting. A Horsa Glider no 822. 20 men rescued, 1 killed.(3)
