Full Description

`...from Captain Hick. Vessel lies 3 miles westward of St. Albans Head, her stern to sea half a mile off the cliff with seas breaking or running over her. She is full of water. It is impossible to board her at present, but all the passengers have been saved with great difficulty. Vessel almost certainly a total wreck...tugs and lighters have proceeded to the wreck for the purpose of removing cargo...have landed 27 cases of wines and spirits, 2 cases of fruit, 21 bales and 104 boxes of candles, 16 cases of sundry sails and stores, 492 tins of paint, 30 drums of oil etc. At present there is a fresh breeze from the SW...divers have examined the vessels bottom; the rudder is broken off at the 17 foot mark, the stern post at 13 feet, her forefoot gone and bottom badly damaged.
