Full Description

`Weymouth, Oct.4: The JOHN RICKARD, of Bridlington, from Grenada to London, struck on the Kimmeridge Ledge in a fog on Friday the 29th ult., and has since become a total wreck. We understand a good part of the cargo, consisting of rum, sugar, cotton and cocoa, will be saved, as well as part of the materials of the vessel...the captain and crew succeeded in getting on shore on this dangerous and difficult part of the coast. (1) `Struck in fog, part cargo saved and all her crew. (3) `Swanage, Sept. 30. The JOHN RICKARD, Ross, from Grenada, for London, ran on shore yesterday afternoon, on Kemrige Ledge, near St. Albans Head, during a fog, and it is feared will be wrecked and most of her cargo lost. Crew saved. (4) `Weymouth, Oct. 5th. The JOHN RICHARD, Ross, from Grenada to London, which was on shore on Kemridge Ledge, has become a total wreck. A great part of the cargo saved; also part of the materials of the vessel. (5) Master: Daniel Ross Date of Loss Qualifier: A The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years.
