Ex-OLIVE BRANCH. Torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine UB-40. (1) Source (5) states the vessel was torpedoed 24 miles WNW of Portland Bill. Built: 1887 Builder: Bartram, Haswell andamp; Co. Where Built: Sunderland Propulsion: screw driven 3 cylinder triple expansion engine Date of Loss Qualifier: A
The wreck lies north south across the tide. A feature amidships is one of her boilers, which has partially fallen out of her hull. … The hull still stands up to a full 7m from the sea bed depth of 37m. (7)
