Summary
British craft, stranded at the entrance to Poole Harbour 1771. A British cargo vessel grounded on Poole Bar, en route from Bristol to London. However, she was recovered shortly afterwards. Constructed of wood, she was a sailing vessel.

Full Description
The HERFORD, Huxtable, from Bristol to London, is on shore near Poole Bar. (2) `The HEREFORD, Huxtable, that was on shore near Poole Bar, is got off with little damage. (4) Master: Huxtable Date of Loss Qualifier: R
The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
