Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IX standard single-seat fighter; one of a batch of 219 Mk. Vs, VIs, VIIs and IXs delivered between June and October 1942. Ditched 4 miles off Christchurch, Hants., 22.8.43. (1) Delivered: 1942 Squadron: 616 Date of Loss Qualifier: A 616 Squadron. Ft/Sgt R T Wright Shipping recce early am; went into the sea off Christchurch, but rescued by HSL (2)
