Full Description
Field Systems : Taken from air photographs in Jan-March 1949. (1) In the areas centred at A - SY 559855, B - SY 560850 and C - SY 557850, strong, parallel, medieval type strip lynchets are visible following the contours. Under grass. See air photographs RAF CPE/UK/2431 3285-6 and 4285-6. Near to the areas delineated steep scarps are of natural formation. (2). Seen on a 1970s AP. (3) The medieval strip field system was was digitally plotted from aerial photographs {4-5} during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project, it extends from Castle Beach Coittage northwards to Crook Furze.
