Full Description
Archaeological investigation on land adjacent to the Hampshire Centre Retail Park. An earlier programme of evaluation trenching had identified a sequence of shallow ditches with NW-SE or NE-SW alignments. These were interpreted as traces of former field system(s), indicating two distinct phases of activity on site in the Bronze Age and Post-Medieval eras. Both patterns were broadly similar, though the later Post-Medieval ditches were notably more uniform.
