Full Description

Substantial stone wall built across the floor of lime kiln (Mon WX3356) after the kiln went out of use but before the kiln remains had been completely levelled. Probably dates from after castle construction. May have stood as a cross-wall or west end wall of a structure erected along the south perimeter wall (gatehouse or lodge?). On same site as 'Sutlers House' or 'Lodge' shown on plan from 1716. (1)
