Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Excavation of a small sample area on part of the proposed route of a water main in 2002 revealed two linear features and a possible pit, all containing material of post-medieval or modern date as well as finds of Mesolithic, Romano-British and Medieval date. The excavators interpreted these as suggesting potentially early general Mesolithic and Romano-British activity along the riverbank.
