Summary
A gravel pit marked on the first edition Ordnance Survey map. A large area of shallow surface extraction was identified on aerial photographs taken in 1948 on the southern end of Eype Down. The features, including an associated trackway were digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.

Full Description
A gravel pit marked on the first edition OS.(1) Also marked as a gravel pit on the second edition OS map. (2)
A large area of shallow surface extraction was identified on lidar imagery (3) on the southern end of Eype Down. The features, including an associated trackway were digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP. They are considered to be the result of post medieval extraction and are largely obscured by trees on conventional photography.
