An old chalk pit marked on the first edition OS map (1). Also marked on the second edition map (2). A pit is visible as an earthwork at this location on aerial photographs (3) and Lidar images (4). It is considered likely to be the remains of the post medieval chalk pit mentioned above. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is still visible as an earthwork on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.
