Full Description

An old gravel pit shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1885 [1], also shown on the map of 1900. [2] A post medieval gravel pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of Arne Heath taken in 1947 (3). This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is still visible as an earthwork on the most recent comprehensive imagery available to the project (4).
