A gravel pit shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1885 [1], also shown on the map of 1900. [2]
A pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of Holme Lane Plantation, East Holme taken in 1946 (3). It is considered likely to be the remains of the post medieval gravel pit described above. This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
