Monument record MWX4204 - Medieval to post medieval water meadows, Wareham

An extensive group of water meadows to the north and north-east of Wareham are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken between 1945-47. They are considered likely to be medieval to post medieval in date.

(1) An extensive group of water meadows to the north and north-east of Wareham are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken between 1945-47 (2-5). They are considered likely to be medieval to post medieval in date. Additional water meadows are also visible to the south and east of Wareham (WX4009) and are considered likely to be contemporary. These features are still partially visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project (6-7). This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
