Summary
Two linear banks located either side of a drainage channel are visible on aerial photographs off the southern tip of Round Island. It is possible it could be the remains of a historic or modern canal constructed through the deepening and strengthening of a natural drainage channel.

Two linear banks located either side of a natural drainage channel are visible on aerial photographs off the southern tip of Round Island (2). It is possible it could be the remains of a historic or modern canal constructed through the deepening and strengthening of a natural drainage channel. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). The channel is still visible on the most recent comprehensive imagery available to the project (3).
