Full Description

Old tramway marked on the second edition of the OS map. (1) Quarry tramway from Portland Bill to Red Crane shipping place, worked by F.J. Barnes and John Pearce 1889-1893. (2) Shown as 'Old Tramway' with rails on map of 1900 (3), and the course only in 1926 (4) Sleeper blocks survive in the quarry nearest the lighthouse, there is a cutting, and rails are exposed near the crane. (5)
