An early modern short range torpedo pier is marked on the second edition of the OS map. A torpedo station is visible at this location on aerial photographs of Bincleaves Groyne taken in 1946.

Full Description

A short range torpedo pier marked on the second edition of the OS map (1). A 'Torpedo Range Circling Area' is charted in 1936 between Sandsfoot Castle and south-end of northern breakwater. (2) An early modern torpedo station is visible on aerial photographs of Bincleaves Groyne taken in 1946 (3). This structure was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is still visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project (4).
