Full Description

"At Bournemouth Pier we must note in passing traces of a submerged forest which could formerly be seen; many years ago it was uncovered at low tide, stumps of coniferous trees being exposed, abundantly, in their original sites." (1) The site is probably located to the east of the present pier. (2)
