Summary
The Russell-Cotes Nautical School was a sea training school set up by Dr Barnardo's Homes. It was built in 1919 on land donated by Sir Merton and Lady Russell-Cotes. In 1956 it became the Parkstone Sea Training School. It was closed in 1964. It is now part of Bournemouth and Poole College of Further Education. A number of buildings survive, but others have been demolished.

The Russell Cotes Nautical School was a sea training establishment set up by Dr Barnardo's Homes' to train boys for the navy. The land and funds were donated by Sir Merton and Lady Russell-Cotes. Building started in 1919 and it was officially opened in 1922. The site included four, later five houses for boys, Mess Deck, Galley, Staff Mess, Gymnasium and Chapel. A number of buildings survive, but others have been demolished.
In 1956 it became the Parkstone Sea Training School.This closed in 1964. It is now part of Bournemouth and Poole College of Further Education.
