Site of Second World War heavy anti aircraft battery Portland `D' at Fleet. Type of armament unkown. It was manned by 430 Battery of the 140th Royal Artillery Regiment in 1942.

Full Description
Several ruined buildings arranged in a semicircle visible on a 1940's AP. <4>
Site of a Heavy Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battery at Sea Barn Farm, Blackhead. The site included four gun emplacements and a control block in 1947. It now comprises only one gun emplacement with the remainder having been demolished. <7>
Site of WWI and WWII Anti Aircraft Batteries. The WWII Heavy Anti Aircraft Battery of Portland 6 [D] is visible on aerial photographs at Sea Barn Farm, Fleet <5-6>. The site comprises six square gun emplacements, three of which are still extant and marked on the current edition OS map. This was also the site of an earlier WWI battery. The gun emplacements and a number of buildings associated with the military installation were digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
