Full Description

A small unidentified circular feature visible on a 1940s AP, a dark narrow circular ditch feature? (1) The feature described above in one is visible as a low earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s, adjacent to the lighthouse buildings at Portland Bill. It is formed of a circular bank measuring approximately 10 m in diameter with a small circular bank inside it measuring approximately 4 m in diameter. It may indicate the site of a flagpole associated with the lighthouse at Portland Bill. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
