Full Description

Two parallel field boundaries visible in an AP from the 1940s (1) One of the boundaries may correspond with a field boundary visible on the Malmesbury Estate map dated 1796 (2), but has gone out of use by the 1st edition OS map in the late 19th century. Additional historic boundaries and associated ridge and furrow cultivation marks of probable post medieval date are also visible on 1940s aerial photograps and were mapped by the Dorset Stour NMP project (3 and 4). The site has largely remained open ground as a school playing field. The southern part of the sitehad been overplanted by trees and scrub on an aerial photograph of 1969 (5) and was developed for housing by 1988 (6).
