Summary
The French Lugger Augustine of Port L'Abbe towed into Poole Harbour. (See also Jeune Erneste). Crew of four saved by the Manley Wood lifeboat. Augustine was stranded on the Hook Sands in company with second lugger Jeune Erneste (which later sank) 15 December 1868.

Full Description
The French Lugger Augustine was stranded on the Hook Sands in company with second lugger Jeune Erneste (which later sank) in 1868. (1)
The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
