Full Description
On 1/5/1845, the Dorset County Chronicle & Southern Gazette reported that 'in beating up for Portland Roads the Eagle cutter got on shore nearly opposite the old castle, the night being extremely dark & blowing hard; she fired guns of distress and immediate assistance was rendered her when she soon got afloat without sustaining any other damage than to the loss of her false keel.'
