A steam yacht (sail plus auxiliary engine) that sank off Portland Bill in 1951
On the 8th September 1951 the yacht Lendor was sailing off Portland when her propeller caught in a lobster pot line. Helpless she drifted onto a ledge under Portland Bill. Despite desperate attempts to rescue her, remarkably captured on film, she sank in deep water just off the shore. (3)
