Full Description

A sailing yacht that sank off Chesil Beach in 1977, owned by Robert King (1) The theft from Lyme Regis of this yacht was reported by the owner the same day. It was later found washed ashore on Chesil Beach. On board were a new typewriter and an expensive camera and other items which the thief had left behind and it was presumed that he had jumped overboard at the time she went ashore and either drowned, or else reached shore safely and made off. (2) The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
