Full Description

A fishing vessel that sank off St Aldhelm's Head in 1992 (1) 'Following an engine breakdown, drifted onto the rocks and became a total loss near Saint Albans Head.' (2) Vertical datum: LAT Horizontal datum: WGS 84 Quality of fix: Unreliable / position approximate. Charted as the SEAHAWK, entire wreck in the Marine zone. Although the position given for this vessel is only approximate, so little is known about the vessel that only a single record has been created. Documentary evidence: 'After drifting ran onto rocks in approximately 50°35.00N, 02°02.00W [OGB].' (3) Nothing further is known about the vessel but it is believed that the vessel shown in Source 3 is the SEAHAWK described here. (4) Date of loss qualifier: Actual date of loss The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
