Charted as SURDELO, entire wreck (dangerous wreck). (1) Vessel structure: 50°40'.56 N, 001°56'.11W at a depth of 0.6 m in water just 3m deep. Sources 1 and 2 give her tonnage a s95 net, and her length as 15.2m. 'ST in 50°40'31N, 001°56'02W, or 133.5°, 385ft from Haven Hotel FS. (Poole Harbour Commissioners, Notice to mariner dated 9.2.72).' (1) 14.2.72 'Harbour master reports hull breaking up during severe southerly gale, considered keel and engine now buried in sand. (Lloyds 207)' (1) 16.2.72 'Wreck now considered as foul.' (1) 2.5.73 Position 50°40'55N, 001°56'11W. BA 2611 [INT 1726] [9th EDN. Apr '02].' (1) 31.506 Documentary evidence: 'Ran aground and was holed on Hook Sand, Poole Harbour entrance.' (1, citing Lloyds List) 'Harbour Master at Poole reported that she was breaking up during a severe Southerly gale in February 1972, and that he considered her keel and engine were now buried in sand.' (2) No additional information about the vessel could be found. Date of loss qualifier: Actual date of loss. The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
