Romano-British occupation site discovered by P. A. Brown circa 1975, west of Spyway Barn and south of Priests Way on the limestone ridge near Dancing Ledge. A small area of black soil was noticed at SY 99497764 astride a trackway leading south-east to a quarry, and a flint scraper and quantity of pottery was recovered, including a samian sherd and black-burnished ware of relatively early Roman date. (See SY 97 NE 42 for Romano-British sherds discovered nearby, circa 1962). <1>
