Full Description
Approx. position of probable round barrow. (1) A circular heather covered mound surveyed at SZ 02588426 with a diameter of 21.0m. and a height of 1.3m. There are no traces of a ditch or of mutilation. This is a very doubtful barrow and is more probably a natural mound of a type common to the area. (2) Not a tumulus but a high natural gravel formation standing above the local Silica Sand. These mounds are quite common on the low lying lands of the Isle of Purbeck. (see also SZ 08 SW 11,43 &44).
