Abstract/Summary
'An archaeological evaluation on the site of a proposed new garage block was carried out in September 1995. The investigation comprised the recording of two hand-excavated trenches within the ground plan of the proposed new building. A topsoil profile was revealed in each trench varying in depth between 50mm and 200mm, overlying redeposited make-up layers of 150mm deep. Below this a buried soil horizon, post medieval/modern in date was also encountered overlying undisturbed natural sand and gravel. A further deposit was present in trial pit 2 only and this appeared to overly a modern drain culvert. No archaeological features or pre-modern finds were present.'
