Abstract/Summary

Report collates the known archaeological resource of the proposed exctraction area. The presence of important Lower Palaeolithic remains within the river gravels is noted and the later prehistoric, Roman, medieval and post-medieval potential of the site is summarised. The report highlights areas of information requiring further investigation and makes reccommendations for further stages of archaeological work.
