Abstract/Summary

The archaeological evaluation of the site of a proposed agricultural dwelling at Eweleaze Barn Dairy comprised the excavation and recording of three machine-dug trenches. The site immediately to the south of a Bronze Age round barrow (DCCSMR Winterborne St Martin 84), which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, and part of an extensive linear cemetery. The trenches produced no evidence for archaeological deposits within the proposed development area, all subsoil features being periglacial (natural) origin. Small quantities of worked flint artefacts were recovered from the spoil heaps.
