Abstract/Summary
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in November 2003 at the request of Strategic Land Partnerships of land at Lower Putton Lane, Chickerell, Dorset. In compliance with an approved project design, a total of 10 trenches were excavated across the development area.
Several medieval features in the form of shallow ditches and pits were uncovered, associated with the deserted medieval village which survives as a series of earthworks on part of the site. A range of sherds of pottery of 11th to 15th-century date were also recovered.
