Abstract/Summary

‘An Archaeological Watching Brief was carried out by Southern Archaeological Services Ltd. On behalf of Bryanston School on land adjacent to the existing music block at the school. The NGR for the site is ST 8699 0745. The purpose of the Watching Brief was to observe and record the presence of any archaeological features and natural deposits encountered on the site. Archaeological deposits were to be investigated to ascertain their date, nature, extent and condition. The Watching Brief was allocated site code SAS 101. The Watching Brief took place between 22nd and 26th September 1997. The groundworks consisted of the digging of foundation trenches by 306⁰ mechanical excavator. The works were in preparation for the construction of new classrooms and a hall. The geology of the site is chak. One possible archaeological feature was recorded.’
