Abstract/Summary
‘An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in May 2004 in support of a planning application to redevelop land for a residential housing scheme at Grangecroft Road, Weston, Portland, Dorset. The evaluation comprised the excavation and recording of three trial trenches. One trench contained artefacts which included pottery of Iron Age to early Roman date from the subsoil and may indicate the presence of occupation of this period in the vicinity. There is evidence for modern subsoil disturbance within the site and the potential for the survival of any significant deposits is therefore reduced.’
